Registration Process
- To participate in the challenge, individuals must first create an account on the NASA Space Apps website.
- If participants already have an account from previous years, they can log in directly to proceed with registration.
- New users must click the sign-up button on the main menu, fill out the required information, and review the terms and conditions along with the privacy policy.
- Upon completing the sign-up process, users will receive an email requiring them to verify their account before proceeding.
Choosing a Local Event
- After logging in and registering, participants must select a local event or opt for the virtual universal event to participate in the hackathon.
- Users can find local events by navigating to the "explore the hackathon" section and clicking on "local events," or by using the search bar or map available on the local event page.
- It is recommended to join a local event to connect with the community, find teammates, and collaborate effectively based on geographical proximity.
- Participants can select their preferred local event, indicate their participation type, and complete their registration process.
- If the chosen local event is full, there is an option to join a waitlist, with potential approval by the local lead if space becomes available.
- In the absence of a nearby local event, participants are encouraged to register for the virtual universal event, which connects them with participants from around the globe.

- Once registered and assigned to a local event, participants should familiarize themselves with various resources available on the participant resources page.
- This page includes a virtual boot camp, FAQs, and detailed guides that provide essential information about navigating the hackathon experience.
- The FAQ section covers critical timelines and steps of the hackathon, ensuring participants have access to necessary information.
- Guides for team formation, project submissions, and judging criteria are available to assist participants in understanding the process and expectations.
- Additional resources will be updated leading up to the event, helping participants stay informed and prepared.
Communication and Updates
- Participants are encouraged to subscribe to the NASA Space Apps YouTube channel to access informative videos and updates regarding the challenge.
